Spiral

This spiral is one of the few images that can be nearly fully explained mathematically.
  The large leaves represent the basins of attraction for the roots of the equation
     z¹¹ = 1.  As the leaves spiral around counterclockwise, at “3 o’clock” they cross into an invisible plane.
